rampant

my last post was about God's faithfulness, and how we should rest in the truth that He will never be unfaithful.

two days after i published that post, i had quite a big dilemma in my life involving classes and schedules and me in over my head.
at this point i had two very clear options. i could take my own advice and believe God was going to be faithful to me, or i could just meltdown and have a dramatic pity party.
(i've been known to be pretty good at the second option)

but i put on my big girl pants and with the help of encouraging parents, a safeguarding big brother, and helpful friends, i was able to truly take hold of God's promise that He will be with me wherever i go.*

with the past two days of mad chaos and doubt in my life fresh in my mind,
i was captivated when i read first peter four this morning.
verse seven says
"the end of all things is near. therefore be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray."

i ran around campus yesterday, sometimes aimlessly, constantly having to choke back tears of discouragement, frustration, confusion, and embarrassment
i had to catch myself when i doubted that God would not provide me with what i was asking of Him.

i was in a constant battle with my thoughts yesterday.
but as i read this verse today,
i'm gently reminded that
Jesus has called us to be
clear minded
and self-controlled.
so that, we can pray.

so that, we can call upon Him and the Holy Spirit
to come intervene for us.
to come save us,
to come bless us,
to come fight for us,
to come provide for us.

so we might then, attribute all that He has done for us to His glory and honor.
so we might stand in awe of His goodness and faithfulness.
so we might be able to attest to His active and earnest search in and through our hearts.

next time you have to run rampant across your campus,
or can't figure out rides for your kids,
or don't know what your doing with your life,
or are faced with discouragement,
clear your mind and control yourself.
but most importantly,
pray.
and He will intervene for you.
(because He is faithful and hears your plea)
